Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a band 6 practitioner in the Complex Emotional Needs Service covering three London Boroughs – Ealing, Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham. This service will support adults experiencing difficulties with emotional instability and relationships through a specialist Tier 3 service.

Main duties of the role

The role focuses on clinical work and involves screening and assessing referrals for CEN, liaising with referrers, and providing comprehensive assessments and formulations. You will work closely with the band 7 Senior Practitioner and the Team Manager to ensure the efficient running of the clinical team, support the development of interfaces with multiple services, and contribute to effective and compassionate service development. You will hold a caseload of clients within CEN and collaborate with the Mental Health Integrated Network Teams (MINT) to offer consultative support and interventions.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, include the MINT teams, and collaborate with multiple services and stakeholders to develop a high quality integrated service. You will be expected to support the development of interfaces with multiple services and stakeholders, and ensure client focus, consistency, quality, and cost effectiveness in your service delivery.

Qualifications and experience
  • Educated to degree or diploma level with a relevant qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Core mental health profession registration with an appropriate professional body (e.g., NMC, UKCP, HCPC or Social Work England).
  • Clinical or postgraduate management qualification or equivalent level of experience and proven ability to perform at this level.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with adults with mental health problems in a variety of community settings.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working and working with clients with a diagnosis of personality disorder.
  • Experience and skills in risk assessment and management.
Desirable qualifications and experience
  • Qualification or equivalent experience in SCM, MBT practitioner level or DBT accreditation or a willingness to train.
  • Experience of inter-agency working and use of a variety of therapeutic tools.
  • Measurable track record in involving and motivating staff to improve performance.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice, clinical governance and related knowledge for research and audit.
