Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an Associate Practitioner to join the Immunocytochemistry (ICC) and Molecular Pathology service within the Cellular Pathology Directorate in Liverpool.

You will support day-to-day diagnostic work, including specimen reception and accessioning, microtomy and tissue preparation for ICC, PCR/NGS, and the operation and maintenance of automated staining platforms, contributing to safe, efficient patient care.

Qualifications

• Duties include routine laboratory tasks across ICC and Molecular Pathology.

Responsibilities

• Specimen receipt and accessioning; microtomy and tissue section/scroll preparation for ICC, PCR and/or NGS analysis; operate and maintain automated ICC staining platforms; perform paraffin embedding, cryotomy, IMF, FISH/CISH and routine H&E staining.
• Specimen handling in accordance with COSHH regulations; quality control, waste disposal and inventory management.
• Training of staff and new personnel; participate in departmental meetings and CPA accreditation activities.
