Job summary

An ecological consultancy is seeking a Bat Ecologist or Senior Bat Ecologist to lead and deliver bat surveys, apply for mitigation licences, and mentor junior staff. This role offers a salary range of £28,000‑35,000 depending on experience, flexible and hybrid working arrangements, and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful conservation efforts in the beautiful South West of the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading and delivering bat surveys, assessments, and mitigation designs.
  • Applying for bat mitigation licences and ensuring projects meet the highest technical standards.
  • Managing projects, budgets, and client communications.
  • Producing clear, professional reports.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior ecologists.
Requirements
  • Experience delivering bat surveys and mitigation (ideally holding a bat licence and able to apply for mitigation licences).
  • Excellent report writing and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to quality, professionalism, and a positive team culture.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and travel across Cornwall (and occasionally Devon and Dorset) for site work.
