Job summary

Anglian Water Services is seeking a CDM Advisor to ensure projects comply with CDM Regulations within the IOS Alliance. You will provide expert guidance on relevant legislation, assess competence, and perform site audits to verify compliance.

Aligned to a designated area, you will review PCI, Design Risk Management, and Construction Phase Plans while supporting risk assessments and CDM documentation. A qualification in engineering or health & safety is required, with NEBOSH certification

Qualifications

• A qualification in engineering or health and safety.
• NEBOSH Certificate (if not Construction Cert., must demonstrate other construction training).
• Experience in a multi discipline design team and application of H&S principles in design.
• Good understanding of the operational and maintenance requirements of water industry assets.
• Understanding of construction processes and procedures.
• Membership of an appropriate engineering or health and safety institution.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
• Problem solving capabilities, flexibility and commitment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all work activities are assessed using the CDM Assessment tool to determine maintenance vs CDM complexity.
• Define and implement CDM strategies and assign duties.
• Review PCI/Design and Design Risk Management within Maintenance and Engineering Services.
• Oversee and advise on the preparation of Pre-Construction Information (PCI) and identify further information needed.
• Ensure designs comply with MoCDM and that Design Checklists meet STO requirements.
• Review Construction Phase Plans for adequate management and welfare provisions.
• Assist with review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements for high-risk activities.
• Conduct CDM audits across design and construction phases.
• Provide CDM compliance data for the CDM Team reports.

Location: Within the East Anglia area to include: Lincoln, Peterborough, Huntingdon, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Norfolk and Colchester

Contract: Permanent/Full time

Salary: dependent on skills and experience + Car Allowance*

What will you be doing as our new CDM Advisor?

As a CDM Advisor, you will aligned to a designated area and your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all projects within your portfolio comply with the CDM Regulations. You will provide expert advice and guidance on relevant legislation, conduct competency assessments, and perform site audits to ensure compliance.

What you’ll be doing:

• Ensure that all work activities are assessed using the CDM Assessment tool to determine if they are maintenance, or the CDM complexity.
• Ensure that CDM strategies are in place and defined duty holders.
• Review the suitability of PCI/Design and Design Risk Management within Maintenance and Engineering Services team.
• Oversee and advise on the preparation of Pre-Construction Information (PCI), and highlight the need for any necessary further information that may be required.
• Ensure that designs comply to Anglian Water’s Management of CDM (MoCDM) and that Design Checklists are suitability complete to meet Safe To Operate (STO) requirements.
• Review the suitability of Construction Phase Plans incl. adequate management arrangements and welfare provisions where necessary.
• Provide assistance with review of Risk Assessment and Method Statement on high level risk activities.
• Conduct CDM audits on projects to ensure that CDM is compliant at design phase and construction phase.
• Provide CDM compliance data for the CDM Team data reports.

What does it take to be successful?

• A qualification in engineering or health and safety
