Job summary

Sodexo seeks a dedicated Roman Catholic Chaplain to provide pastoral care and spiritual support at HMP Northumberland. The post involves serving prisoners and staff across faiths, fostering an inclusive community, and contributing to rehabilitation and reintegration efforts.

Key duties include facilitating prayers and faith activities, counselling, liaison with visiting Ministers, and collaboration with other chaplains.

Qualifications

• Recognised Roman Catholic Chaplain with authorisation from faith authorities.
• Experience in chaplaincy or pastoral care roles.
• Ability to engage with diverse faith backgrounds in a prison setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care to prisoners of all faiths, supporting diverse practices.
• Develop links with visiting Ministers and faith communities for reintegration.
• Offer counselling to prisoners and staff as appropriate.
• Support an ordered, caring community for faith practice and family connections.
• Facilitate religious prayers and faith activities for the prison population.
• Attend Equality and Inclusion Management Team meetings.
• Support new receptions, discharges, and Separation & Care unit prisoners.
• Represent Sodexo and engage faith groups with prisoner rehabilitation.
• Coordinate Post Incident Care Teams and staff training as needed.
