Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking an experienced Catering Operations Manager to lead the delivery of catering across Harrogate Convention Centre. You will oversee four Catering Event Managers and collaborate with the Executive Chef to ensure events meet client, quality and financial expectations.

You will drive growth by developing people, processes and operational capacity to scale as sales increase, while maintaining safety and exceptional guest experiences across a varied events calendar.

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing busy catering or hospitality operations.
• Experience leading managers and operational teams.
• Strong planning and organisational skills in fast-paced environments.
• Experience managing budgets, costs and performance.
• Strong people-management, coaching and performance-management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Level 2 Food Safety and Health & Safety qualification, or equivalent.
• Personal Licence holder.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead catering operations across a diverse events programme.
• Coach and develop Catering Event Managers and teams.
• Build strong client relationships and manage operational changes.
• Maintain high food, presentation and service standards at events.
• Support business growth by developing scalable people, processes and systems.
• Drive improvements to procedures, workforce planning and training to enhance productivity and service quality.
• Plan staffing requirements to resource events efficiently.
• Monitor budgets and performance to improve productivity and control costs.
• Oversee stock management, payments, timesheets and supplier invoices.
• Promote health, safety and food safety across all events.
• Develop risk assessments, safe systems of work and operating procedures.
