Job summary

Lancashire County Council's School Meals service is seeking a Casual Catering Assistant in Lytham. You will help serve meals, support kitchen and cleaning duties, and help create a safe dining environment for pupils.

The role is term-time only, offering flexible hours to fit around family, study or other commitments. Training and development opportunities are provided to support career progression within the service.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a catering or school environment is desirable.

As a Casual Catering Assistant, you will join our friendly school kitchen team, helping to prepare and serve healthy, balanced meals while creating a positive lunchtime experience for pupils.

Lancashire County Council's School Catering Service provides more than 60,000 meals every day across over 500 schools, and you'll play an important part in serving a nutritious meal to the children of Lancashire.

Local Government Reorganisation

The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.

If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
