Job summary

A national healthcare service based in Lancaster is seeking enthusiastic Catering Assistants to join their dynamic team. The roles involve serving food at ward level and in the restaurant, ensuring high-quality service for patients and customers. Candidates should have a good education background and ideally experience in a food environment. Training will be provided, and the positions may include weekend work.

Qualifications

Job description

We are looking to recruit 4 Catering Assistant's to join our fantastic Catering Department. You will be enthusiastic and will relish being a part of this dynamic team, delivering a high quality service which puts our patients and customers first.

2 x 37.5 hour post's working 12-8 this role will involve serving food at ward level and carrying out duties within the catering department

1 x 20 hour post working 4- 8this role will involve serving food at ward level and carrying out duties within the catering department

1 x 20 hour post working various hours with the restaurant serving customer using our services and may also involve serving food at ward level

You should have working knowledge of a busy food environment and ideally hold your Foundation food hygiene certificate, full training, and support will be given on induction,

The role will be working 20 hours which will involve working weekends (alternate)

Main duties of the job

You will be required to undertake a wide range of duties including food preparation, cleaning, and supporting patient feeding at ward level. You should be equipped with excellent customer service skills and preferably have experience within the catering industry. Completion of audit forms associated with food safety, & procedures.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Person Specification
  • Good General Education
  • Posses or willing to work towards NVQ level 2 Hospitality/Customer Care
  • Ability to work on own or as part of a team without direct supervision
  • Experience of cleaning in a food environment or similar environment
  • Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control points (HACCP)
  • Knowledge of the potential Cross Contamination in a Health Care setting
  • able to deal with information in a confidentiality and sensitive manner
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of Manual Handling techniques
  • Knowledge of COSHH Regulations
  • Previous experience of working in a hospital environment.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety
  • Experience of using industrial Catering Equipment
