Job summary

Perkins Engines in Stafford is hiring for a part-time food service assistant to support busy service periods. You will help with food prep, portioning, serving customers, and maintaining a clean, welcoming dining area.

The role focuses on friendly customer service, efficient teamwork, and adherence to hygiene standards. Training in basic food safety is provided, with opportunities to learn through practical shifts.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Food Service: assist with preparation, portioning and presentation of food items; serve customers politely with service standards; set up, replenish and clear service counters.
• Customer Experience: provide friendly, professional customer service; respond to queries promptly; maintain a welcoming service environment.
• Operational Support: assist with basic food preparation under supervision; support break times and ad-hoc service requirements; follow allergen management and labelling procedures.
• Cleaning & Hygiene: daily cleaning tasks in kitchen, service and dining areas; wash equipment and crockery; maintain high personal hygiene and uniform standards.
• Health, Safety & Compliance: follow food safety, HACCP and hygiene procedures; report hazards or issues; comply with policies including health & safety, safeguarding, confidentiality.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Food Service
  • Assist with the preparation, portioning and presentation of food items.
  • Serve customers politely and efficiently, maintaining portion control and service standards.
  • Set up, replenish and clear service counters throughout service periods.
• Customer Experience
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service.
  • Respond to customer queries and requests promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming service environment.
• Operational Support
  • Assist with basic food preparation under supervision.
  • Support the smooth running of break times, meal periods, hospitality events and ad‑hoc service requirements.
  • Follow all operational procedures, including allergen management and labelling.
• Cleaning & Hygiene
  • Carry out daily cleaning tasks in kitchen, service and dining areas.
  • Wash up equipment, utensils and crockery using manual or mechanical methods.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and adhere to uniform requirements.
• Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all food safety, HACCP and hygiene procedures.
  • Report hazards, maintenance issues or incidents immediately.
  • Comply with company policies, including health & safety, safeguarding (if applicable), and confidentiality.
