Job summary

5 Star Recruitment is seeking a Catering Assistant for a high school role. You will assist with food preparation, cooking and serving meals, and help maintain HACCP records in a busy school kitchen.

The ideal candidate will have Level 2 Food Safety, be able to work flexibly, and communicate in Welsh. This onsite position offers opportunities to learn and progress within catering services.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Food Safety certification required.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety practices.
• Strong customer care skills.
• Experience in School Meals preferred.
• Ability to communicate in Welsh.
• Cooking ability demonstrated in duties.
• Desire to progress and gain NVQ.

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages and simple cooking.
• Transport and serve meals; complete HACCP records.
• General kitchen and dining room duties; wash up and setting up/clearing away.
• Move tables and chairs; maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety and governance policies.
• Undertake any other duties as instructed by Cook in Charge.

JOB TITLE

Catering Assistant High School

JOB PURPOSE

To undertake general kitchen duties including the preparation, simple cooking and serving of food.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Basic preparation of food and beverages e.g. preparing vegetables, salad items, and fruit etc. Simple cooking e.g. preparation of snacks.
• 2. Transporting and serving meals to the customers, and completion of HACCP records.
• 3. General kitchen and dining room duties e.g. washing up, setting up and clearing away food and moving tables and chairs.
• 4. Cleaning of the kitchen, its surround and equipment.
• 5. Undertake any other duties which are commensurate with the general nature and grade of the post, as instructed by the Cook in Charge.
• 6. Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures including the code of corporate governance, health and safety, risk management procedures and financial regulations.
