Catering Assistant

Location: Rose Hill Police HQ, 15 Cazneau Street, Liverpool, L3 3AN
Contract: 3‑month contract with potential extension (30 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8:00‑14:30)
Pay Rate: £12.60 PAYE per hour
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Catering Assistant / Barista to join the team at Merseyside Police’s Rose Hill Headquarters. Working as part of a friendly, professional team, you’ll help deliver a high‑quality, efficient, and customer‑focused catering service. From preparing and serving food and beverages to maintaining excellent hygiene standards, you’ll play a key role in supporting our in‑house catering operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain all service areas prior to and during service times, ensuring stock levels are kept replenished.
  • Greet and serve all customers in a professional, friendly, and efficient manner.
  • Prepare and serve a range of high‑quality food and beverages, including barista‑style coffee.
  • Operate electronic point of sale (EPOS) tills and click‑and‑collect systems for payments and orders.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen and dining areas, completing daily cleaning and temperature checks.
  • Report any faults or defective equipment promptly to management.
  • Support the delivery of hospitality and event catering services across the site.
  • Ensure full knowledge of menu items and allergens to assist customers effectively.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties related to catering provision as required.
Essential skills and experience
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Experience in a retail or hospitality environment (ideally a restaurant or coffee shop).
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, EPOS systems, and basic IT applications.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
