Job summary

Aspens Services is seeking a Catering Assistant in Eastbourne to support our school catering team during the lunch service. You will help with basic food preparation and provide excellent customer service to pupils and staff.

Roles are part-time: 10 hours per week, 35 weeks per year, at £12.71 per hour. Training and DBS disclosure will be provided as part of safeguarding commitments and ongoing development within a fast-growing education catering provider.

Qualifications

• Customer-focused and friendly communication with students and staff.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced service environment.
• Basic food handling or preparation familiarity is beneficial.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 is a plus but training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers at the till during service and ensure smooth operation.
• Provide courteous, front-line service to students and staff.
• Assist the team with basic food preparation as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen area in compliance with health and safety standards.

The role:

As a Catering Assistant, you will be a vital part of the team, supporting our kitchen in basic food preparation and delivering excellent service that makes the lunchtime rush run smoothly.

You’ll be making a real difference through responsibilities that include:

• Customer Interaction: Working on the tills during service (don't worry, full training is provided!).
• Front-Line Service: Providing friendly, polite customer service to all students and staff.
• Essential Support: Assisting the team with basic food preparation
• Maintaining Standards: Ensuring a safe, clean kitchen environment and meeting Health and Safety compliance
