30 hours / 38 weeks

Overview

As part of a small catering team at Kirklees College Dewsbury site, you will provide an excellent refectory service to students and staff. Your role involves food preparation, presentation, service, kitchen hygiene, customer interaction and cash handling. You will work under the Catering Team Leader, ensuring a welcoming yet professional environment that reflects college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Place orders with suppliers, manage deliveries and lift/stack shelves and fridges.
  • Prepare, cook and present food and drinks in line with college quality standards.
  • Maintain kitchen and refectory cleanliness, hygiene and order.
  • Use a till and handle cash transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with the college’s food safety policy and Health & Safety regulations.
Qualifications
  • Current Level 1 Food Hygiene certificate (desirable).
  • Experience in a kitchen or customer‑focused catering role.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to engage with young people and staff.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
