Job summary

Aspens Services is seeking a Catering Assistant to join our school catering team in Coventry. You will support the kitchen with basic food preparation and help deliver excellent service during lunchtimes. Full training is provided for tills and customer interactions.

The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced school environment, with term-time hours and a friendly, can-do attitude. A DBS disclosure is required, and we offer ongoing training and development.

Qualifications

• Team player with ability to work in a busy catering environment.
• Experience in catering or fast-paced service roles is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety practices is required.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 is desirable, but training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation and service during lunch periods.
• Take tills during service and interact with students and staff (training provided).
• Provide friendly, frontline service and maintain a clean, safe kitchen area.
• Ensure Health and Safety standards are met and contribute to a high-quality dining experience.

The role:

As a Catering Assistant, you will be a vital part of the team, supporting our kitchen in basic food preparation and delivering excellent service that makes the lunchtime rush run smoothly.

You’ll be making a real difference through responsibilities that include:

• Customer Interaction: Working on the tills during service (don’t worry, full training is provided!).
• Front-Line Service: Providing friendly, polite customer service to all students and staff.
• Essential Support: Assisting the team with basic food preparation
• Maintaining Standards: Ensuring a safe, clean kitchen environment and meeting Health and Safety compliance

About you:

We’re looking for someone who shares our passion for delivering exceptional food and service to our schools.

• You’re a team player and thrive as part of a busy team
• You have previous catering or fast-paced service experience
• You have a basic knowledge of health and safety practices
• The Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification is great, but not essential as we can provide the training!
