Job summary

Kellan Group is seeking a Catering Assistant to join our team in Edinburgh, working across multiple sites. PVG is preferred but not essential. You will support food preparation, service, and general catering duties while upholding high hygiene standards and customer care.

The role offers exposure to a busy catering environment with varied sites, flexible hours, and potential ongoing work for reliable candidates. A welcoming team and stable pay accompany the duty roster.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Catering Assistant or in a similar catering or hospitality role.
• Experience with basic food preparation in a commercial kitchen.
• A good understanding of food hygiene and food safety practices.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours.
• A Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation and serving of food and beverages.
• Preparing sandwiches, salads, and other simple food items.
• Carrying out basic food preparation, including chopping vegetables and preparing ingredients.
• Serving customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Operating the till and handling cash/card transactions.
• Setting up and clearing dining areas.
• Washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene.
• Supporting the kitchen team with general catering duties.
• Following food safety and health & safety procedures at all times.
