Job summary

Busy Bees Nurseries is seeking a Catering Apprentice to join our nursery kitchen and help plan and prepare nutritious meals for children while learning essential kitchen skills and food safety practices.

You will work with experienced catering professionals, gain hands-on experience in food preparation, hygiene, stock rotation, and safe kitchen practice, and receive tailored mentoring from your Development Coach. This role sits in the UK’s leading nursery group with strong career potential.

Qualifications

• Must be a UK resident for at least 3 consecutive years.
• Evidence of Maths and English achievements (GCSE Maths and English grade 3/D or above or Level 2 Functional Skills).
• Desirable: previous catering or food preparation experience.
• Desirable: Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and preparing nutritious meals that meet dietary requirements and follow food safety standards.
• Support the delivery of high-quality catering services for children and staff.
• Build effective working relationships within the kitchen team.
• Help maintain cleanliness and organisation across kitchen and dining areas.
• Follow all food hygiene and safety protocols to safeguard wellbeing.
• Learn through Busy Bees Education and Training apprenticeship within the expected timeframe.
• Be proactive in learning new skills in a busy kitchen.
• Develop professionally and improve practice through mentoring and feedback.
• Communicate regularly with your Line Manager about tasks and progress.
