Job summary

W Talent is partnering with a well-established builders merchant to recruit an experienced Category Manager to join their commercial team in a fully remote role. You will own category strategy, range planning and negotiate with suppliers to drive value.

You will build strong supplier relationships, inform range and pricing decisions using sales, market and competitor data, and work with buying, marketing and operations to deliver category plans while taking ownership of P&L performance.

• Proven category or buying experience in builders merchants or construction materials.
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills with supplier management experience.
• Data-driven decision making using market insights.

Category Manager - Builders Merchant (Fully Remote)

We're partnering with a well-established builders merchant to find an experienced Category Manager to join their commercial team.

This is a great opportunity for a category manager with a strong background in trade, DIY or building materials to take ownership of a key product category within a growing, well-regarded merchant business.

The role:

• Own category strategy, range planning and supplier negotiation for your product area
• Build and develop strong supplier relationships, driving commercial terms, cost improvements and NPD
• Use sales, market and competitor data to inform range, pricing and promotional decisions
• Work closely with buying, marketing and branch/operations teams to deliver category plans
• Take ownership of P&L performance for your category

What we’re looking for:

• Proven category or buying experience, ideally within builders merchants, trade, DIY or construction materials
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with a track record of managing supplier relationships
• Confident using data and insight to drive decisions
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
