Job summary

Office Furniture Online is seeking a confident Category Manager / Buyer to lead multi‑million pound budgets and shape our ranges. You will drive range development, pricing strategy and supplier performance, with hands-on negotiation and leadership of a small team.

You will manage drop‑ship logistics, identify gaps, and work across the business to stay competitive in the office furniture market. A proven track record in e‑commerce buying and category management is essential.

Qualifications

• Category Management/Buying experience is required, preferably within Office Furniture.
• Experience leading or coaching junior team members (assistants).
• Drop-ship experience is required.
• Strong attention to detail and negotiation skills.
• Experience in a product/e-commerce/furniture business is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Use customer insight to build effective ranges for the designated category.
• Create a range and product offer distinctive from competitors and suitable for customers.
• Identify product gaps in the category and opportunities for new categories.
• Source new/alternative products, considering packaging, damages, freight, supplier stability and FX exposure.
• Monitor category pricing against competitors and propose changes to maintain market position.
• Manage relationships with existing suppliers with regular performance reviews.
• With suppliers, implement rebates and discuss marketing promotions.
• Manage contracts and trading terms with suppliers.
• Conduct monthly and quarterly reviews of category performance.

Role Summary

We are looking for a confident communicator who can manage multi‑million pound budgets and lead as a Category Manager / Buyer. You should be highly skilled in range development, pricing, performance and product quality, with strong supplier management and negotiation skills. Experience with drop‑ship logistics is required, as is the ability to multi‑task across numerous products. A strong people manager with previous leadership experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Use customer insight to build effective ranges for your designated category
• Create a range and product offer that is distinctive against our competition and suitable for our customers
• Identify product gaps in the Category and new category opportunities
• Source new and alternative products, considering all aspects including packaging, damages, freight considerations, supplier stability and exchange‑rate exposure
• Constantly monitor category pricing against our competitors and proactively propose any changes to maintain our market position
• Manage effective relationships with existing suppliers, including regular mutual performance reviews
• With established suppliers, implement rebates and discuss marketing promotions (e.g., contributions to special offer flyers or reduced buy prices for promotion periods)
• Manage contracts and trading terms with suppliers
• Conduct monthly and quarterly reviews of category performance

• Experience leading or coaching less‑experienced team members (assistants)
• Drop‑ship experience is required
