A leading FMCG business in the UK is seeking a Category Buyer to enhance their portfolio and drive profitability. This role involves developing purchasing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and supporting marketing and R&D initiatives. Ideal candidates will have a background in retail or consumer goods with strong negotiation and category management skills. The role offers a hybrid working model, a competitive package including a 12.5% bonus, and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

A leading FMCG business food business with multiple accreditations in the organic, healthy eating and fair-trade space, is currently seeking a Category Buyer to join their UK business.

Working in a small team, the successful Category Buyer will be responsible for working closely with cross functional teams to develop category portfolios and contribute to overall growth and profitability.

The successful Category Buyer will ideally have previous purchasing experience within a retail or consumer goods sector, having worked closely with suppliers to source and negotiate supply agreements.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing and implementing purchasing strategies
• Managing a supplier portfolio including monitoring performance, relationship building and compliance requirements
• Contract and price negotiations
• Developing category knowledge to identify trends, new suppliers and competition
• Support marketing and R&D teams with NPD and product renovation projects
• Timely communication with all internal/external stakeholders

Hybrid role - 2/3 days in the office

Package:

12.5% bonus, pension with life assurance & private medical provision

25 days holiday + bank holidays.
