Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Cat 3 Supervisor on a 12 Month Rolling Contract, based in Hampshire.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Cat 3 Supervisor to support delivery of works across the SSE Framework in the Southern patch, primarily based around Hampshire. The successful candidate will oversee the construction, installation, and commissioning activities on 132kV substations, ensuring all works are performed safely, compliantly, and to programme.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Delivery

• Supervise daily site activities across 132kV substation projects in line with SSE standards.
• Oversee contractors, subcontractors, and on-site personnel to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
• Manage site logistics, access, and permits in accordance with SSE and statutory requirements.
• Ensure work is completed to specification, quality standards, and within schedule.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality

• Enforce SSE safety rules and CDM regulations at all times.
• Conduct toolbox talks, site briefings, and safety inspections.
• Report and manage incidents, near-misses, and non-conformances.
• Maintain accurate site records, RAMS, and HSE documentation.

Technical & Project Support

• Oversee civil, electrical, and/or mechanical works within the 132kV substation environment.
• Support commissioning teams and ensure readiness of systems for testing.
• Ensure compliance with design drawings, specifications, and SSE technical standards.
• Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, SAPs, and client representatives.

Documentation & Reporting

• Keep detailed site diaries, progress reports, and as-built documentation.
• Manage site variations, change control, and permit-to-work processes.
• Report progress, risks, and issues to the project team on a regular basis.

Requirements

• SSE Cat 3 Supervisor authorisation (or previously held and eligible for re-authorisation).
• Proven experience working on 132kV (or higher voltage) substations.
• Strong understanding of SSE Safety Rules and National Grid / DNO standards.
• Demonstratable background supervising multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience working under CDM regulations and leading safe site operations.
• Full UK driving licence.
