Weightmans in Glasgow is recruiting a Solicitor 4YRS PQE+ to join our Insurance Team. You will manage a varied caseload of disease, EL/PL and motor claims, with opportunities to handle pre and post litigated matters and supervise junior fee earners.
You will liaise with clients and opponents, work with the Scottish Court, and contribute to business development and client training. A flexible approach and travel may be involved.
Our Defender Insurance team provides a full, expert service in defending public (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims, across the private and the public sector. Weightmans' team is second-to-none in providing litigation defence services in these and other specialist Casualty areas.
We operate on a national basis with dedicated commercial insurance, motor, disease, regulatory and public sector teams and as part of our wider specialism we have a dedicated Casualty Fraud team.
We are currently recruiting for a Solicitor 4YRS PQE + to join our Glasgow Insurance Team, with a keen focus on disease.
You will be working in our dedicated insurance team based out of Glasgow with your own varied caseload of pre and post litigated disease claims, and assisting with high value and complex claims. You will also have the opportunity to handle pre and post litigated EL/PL and motor claims.
We also act in regulatory misconduct matters, together with HSE investigations, fatal accident inquiries and in the field of professional indemnity claims. There would be the opportunity for exposure to this type of work for the right candidate.
We receive direct instructions from both insureds and insurers, together with local authorities.
You will be responsible for the day to day running of your cases including liaising with clients, opponents, the Scottish Court, witnesses and undertaking your own liability investigations. You will be required to be ready and willing to assist with supervision and development of junior fee earners.
This list is not intended to be exhaustive and you will be expected to perform other duties and have other responsibilities that fall within the wider remit of the role.
Ideally you will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above areas of work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks.
If you meet our criteria and think this is a job where you could bring enthusiasm and commitment, then we look forward to receiving your application.
