Job summary

Weightmans is recruiting for a fee earner in the Casualty Fraud team based in Manchester. You will run your own caseload of predominantly fast-track fixed-fee claims (with some multi-track matters depending on experience), taking direct instructions from insureds and insurers and working with a fraud identification system.

Suitable applicants will have up to 7+ years PQE as a solicitor or legal executive, solid casualty claims experience (EL/PL and highways), and a genuine interest in claims

Qualifications

• Experience in defendant EL/PL casualty claims.
• Experience handling EL/PL specific fraud claims is desirable.
• Strong communication and relationship management skills.
• Ability to work to deadlines and financial targets.
• Understanding of PL, EL and Highways law.

About your new role

Our Casualty Fraud Team provides a full, expert service in claims validation, investigation and where necessary defence of public (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims, across the private sector and the public sector. Weightmans' team is second-to-none in providing defendant litigation services in these and other specialist Casualty areas. We operate on a national basis with dedicated commercial insurance and public sector teams and as part of our wider specialism we have a dedicated Casualty Fraud team which is part of our National Firm Fraud insurance claims service offering.

We are currently recruiting for fee earner role and are looking for enthusiastic and experienced individuals Casualty Solicitor/Legal Executive up to 7 YRS+ PQE to join our team.

Working in the dedicated Casualty Fraud team based out of Manchester you will have your own caseload of predominantly fasttrack fixed fee claims (and/ or some multi track depending on experience). We receive direct instructions from both insureds and insurers, as well as having a fraud identification system in place which drives internal referrals and advisory for a wide range of cases involving commercial, public sector and insurance clients nationally.

Under supervision, you will be responsible for the running of the day to day of your cases including liaising with clients, opponents, court, witnesses and undertaking your own liability investigations. We have a specialist team to undertake intelligence searches and any required counter fraud enquiries beyond any client’s own handling preference.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Predominantly PI including EL, PL and Highways
• Personal Injury Housing Claims
• Complete MI procedures as and when required
• Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
• Ensure relevant deadlines, SLAs, quality measures and KPI’s are adhered to
• Comply with relevant policies and procedures
• Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values

You may also be required to carry out tasks that fall within the wider remit of the role and will have the opportunity to engage in client based initiatives.

We are currently recruiting for individuals with a casualty insurance claims background which is essential. Fraud handling experience is desirable. Experience of defendant local authority insurance claims are also desirable.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Previous experience at managing defendant EL/PL casualty claims is essential
• Previous experience at managing defendant EL/PL specific fraud claims is desirable
• Experienced solicitor/ legal executives up to 7 years PQE
• Genuine interest in claims validation and fraud
• Working knowledge of PL, EL and Highways Law
• Experience of handling own casualty caseload
• Good influencing skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and team working skills
