Job summary

With You invites applications for a Substance Use Nurse at HMP North Sea Camp on a casual basis. You’ll provide nursing care, assess needs, and implement care plans in a secure setting, ensuring high standards and patient advocacy.

Current NMC registration is essential, with experience in community health and substance use services. The role offers sessional hours with weekday (£20.31/hr) and weekend (£25.37/hr) shifts; closing date 25 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Must hold current NMC registration and have post-registration clinical experience.
• Experience delivering nursing interventions in a community setting.
• Ability to carry out comprehensive assessments including risk assessments.
• Knowledge of safe storage, handling and administration of medicines, especially controlled drugs.
• Able to work with diverse groups in various settings and roles.
• Able to assess plans, implement and evaluate care, and respond to untoward changes.
• Able to engage service users with respect and dignity and maintain effective communication.
• Experience in drug and alcohol settings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide health, wellbeing and harm-reduction interventions to service users in line with the service model.
• Deliver high standards of nursing care and assess/plan/evaluate care needs.
• Advocate for patients, identifying physical, psychological, social and spiritual support requirements.
• Work flexibly across settings, promoting health and well-being in a safe, caring environment.
