Job summary

Job description
Overview

Provide sports coaching sessions within schools and evening sessions for both male and female participants, children and young people. The post holder needs to be flexible and may work irregular hours (e.g. evenings & weekends) given the nature of the role.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver a variety of sports sessions professionally and at an appropriate level for participants' ability and support needs.
  • Develop relationships with participants, teaching staff, support workers/carers, parents, and other key partners to ensure effective session delivery.
  • Maintain up-to-date monitoring records including registers, VIEWS database, risk assessments and relevant reporting documents.
  • Attend all Quality Assurance staff training offered by the Trust during the term of employment.
  • Ensure all equipment is available and well maintained.
  • Provide feedback to teachers/coaches where appropriate.
  • Communicate any medical issues concerning participants.
  • Understand and comply with the Trust’s child protection and safeguarding policies.
  • Abide by a professional code of conduct that emphasizes appropriate behaviour when interacting with participants.
  • Participate in and stay up to date with relevant child protection training and workshops.
  • Promote the Trust’s relevant offers.
  • Contribute to the effective delivery of tournaments and events.
  • Follow established protocols for data protection and privacy.
  • Act as a point of contact in emergency situations, providing assistance and guiding individuals to safety.
  • Participate in training sessions related to safeguarding and emergency response.
  • Report safeguarding concerns promptly to the appropriate authorities or designated personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, concerns, and actions taken.
  • Ensure the safety of participants by providing adequate supervision during all sports activities.
  • Be prepared to respond to emergencies promptly, including administering first aid and following established emergency procedures.
  • Must be able to work weekends.
  • Flexible to work outside normal office hours.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Level 1 or 2 sports coaching qualification.
  • Safeguarding certificate.
  • Emergency Aid certificate.
  • Current DBS.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in planning and delivering sports activities, in curriculum‐based PE sessions.
  • Experience in understanding and commitment to physical education, sport and long‑term athlete development.
  • Ability to travel to a variety of workplaces within West London using own transport.
Desirable
  • FA Level 2 Football qualification.
  • UEFA B.
  • FA Youth Modules.
  • AFPE Level 3 qualification.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office) / IT skills.
  • Minimum 12 months’ experience in delivering coaching sessions within a school’s or football development centre.
  • Understanding of the structure of School PE curriculum.
