Qualifications

  • Current enhanced DBS check required, renewed every 3 years.
  • Member of British Gymnastics with annual renewal.
  • Experience working with children in a coaching or educational setting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and clear instructions for gymnasts.
  • Provide support for gymnasts learning new skills.
  • Complete accident forms and inform the Duty Manager if necessary.

Hourly rate: up to £13.29 per hour

The role:

Join our team as a casual unqualified gymnastics coach at Portsmouth Gymnastics Centre, which is one of the leading gymnastics facilities in the country.

To assist with running a safe, organised and high energy programme of gymnastics to enable learning and progression through fun and movement.

You will:
  • Ensure the safety of all gymnasts and make sure that they each have a clear instruction to participate in gymnastics.
  • Provide hands‑on support to gymnasts learning new skills and to help reduce/prevent falls.
  • Ensure that matting and pits are used during learning phases and gymnasts are supported by strong physical planning and preparation.
  • If any accident occurs an accident form must be completed, and the Duty Manager informed to support with first aid.
  • Hold a current enhanced DBS check and have a new DBS check completed every 3 years.
  • Ensure energy levels remain high and motivating body language is portrayed at all times.
You will need:
  • A Level 2 Gymnastics Coach qualification.
  • To be a member of British Gymnastics and renew annually.
  • Having a satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance and a new DBS check completed every 3 years.
  • To be able to work unsociable hours including evenings and weekends.
