Job summary

Dignity Funeral Directors in Trowbridge is seeking compassionate Casual Funeral Service Operatives to support families during services and behind the scenes. You’ll join a respectful team, working flexible hours to cover peak periods and on-call demand.

With a full UK driving licence and a courteous, professional approach, you’ll help set up venues, transport hearses and assist mourners, while upholding ceremonial standards and discretion. Full training and uniform are provided.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
• Compassionate, empathetic and professional.
• Understands the importance of presentation and discretion.
• Physically capable of manual handling, including lifting and carrying.
• Reliable, punctual and flexible, including short-notice availability.
• Comfortable with direct contact with the deceased.
• No previous experience is required — full training and uniform provided.

Responsibilities

• Assisting at funeral services: bearing coffins, setting up venues, and supporting mourners.
• Driving and operating specialist vehicles such as hearses and limousines.
• Representing Dignity Funeral Directors with professionalism and empathy.
• Providing respectful, discreet support to families on the day.
• Maintaining ceremonial standards in appearance, conduct and service delivery.
