The team delivers all private and ticketed events at the Roman Baths & Pump Room, the Guildhall, Victoria Art Gallery and Heritage Parks. Events can range from proposals, weddings, conferences, concerts, dinners and drinks receptions and parties. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team that organises unique events in a portfolio of extraordinary venues.

About the Role

The primary purpose of this role is to manage the on-site delivery of events to a high standard, balancing creating unforgettable experiences alongside protection of our historic buildings and maintaining health & safety standards for all on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Liaison: Build strong relationships with event organisers, being responsive and accommodating of any last‑minute requests or changes.
  • Security & Safety: Maintain good order during functions, halt any event that risks the building, contents, or Council's license, and report any damage.
  • Contractor & Staff Supervision: Supervise on-site contractors, including caterers, security staff, and the team of Events Assistants.
  • Set up & Dismantling: Oversee and undertake the set up and dismantling of furniture and equipment for events according to client expectations and in line with the Council's safety requirements.
  • Emergency Management: Ensure the safe evacuation of staff and guests, deliver first aid confidently when required, and act as the primary contact for emergency services.
What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking seasoned event professionals who are not only experienced in managing events but are also genuinely passionate about providing an outstanding, five‑star customer experience.

This role demands a commitment to excellence and a dedication to ensuring that every event attendee has a memorable and seamless experience. Ideal candidates will:

  • Have significant previous event management experience in a front‑line role.
  • Have experience of working in, and being mindful of, a historic building.
  • Have a good general education with a high standard of written and spoken English and a keen attention to detail.
  • Have significant exemplary customer service experience and strong communication skills.
  • Have experience of managing staff and contractors.
