Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a Casual Catering Assistant to join the Wyre Area team. This flexible, term-time role offers the chance to contribute to daily school meals with no fixed evening or weekend shifts.

You will support schools as needed, help prepare and serve healthy meals, and keep areas and equipment clean and hygienic. DBS disclosure may be required.

Casual Catering Assistant

Lancashire County Council provides catering services to over 500 schools across the county, serving more than 60,000 meals every day. Now, we're looking for enthusiastic individuals like you to join our casual team.

In This Role, You Will

• Support schools across your local area as and when needed
• Help prepare and serve healthy, balanced meals to students
• Keep catering areas and equipment clean and hygienic

• Enjoy working as part of a team
• Can stay calm under pressure and use your initiative
• Have great customer service skills
• Have experience in catering or food preparation (this is a bonus, not a must!)

• Monday to Friday (as required)

Local Government Reorganisation

The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.

If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
