Job Title: Casual Art Tutor

Job Overview

Edsential is seeking a passionate and skilled Casual Art Tutor to deliver engaging Outdoor Education courses that inspire and develop students. In this role, you will utilise outdoor activities to meet the specific aims of our programmes while ensuring the safety and well‑being of all participants.



Ideal Candidate


  • Qualified in Art Education or a related field, with a strong understanding of Outdoor Education practices.

  • Experience in delivering educational courses or workshops, preferably in an outdoor setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage students of all ages.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other tutors and staff to achieve common goals.

  • Strong organisational skills, with a keen attention to detail and adherence to health and safety regulations.

  • Passionate about art and outdoor activities, with a demonstrated commitment to student engagement and care.

  • Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to take on a variety of responsibilities.



Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and deliver high‑quality Outdoor Education courses aligned with specific learning outcomes.

  • Ensure all equipment and materials are safe and compliant with health and safety standards.

  • Support the well‑being of students during their stay at the Centre and while participating in various activities.

  • Participate in the ongoing evaluation of courses, ensuring they meet customer goals and expectations.

  • Lead evening activity sessions and occasional overnight expeditions as required.



The Centre

Conway Centres Anglesey have been welcoming groups of young people for Outdoor Education and Arts courses since 1969 and are now part of Edsential Residential. The Conway Centre has large grounds, woodland areas and access to the Menai Strait through a private dock, allowing a large portion of our sessions to be based onsite. It is located adjacent to the National Trust’s Plas Newydd House and has easy access to the coasts, mountains, rivers, and lakes of Snowdonia National Park and Anglesey AONB, which facilitates many off‑site opportunities. The Conway Centre can accommodate over four hundred young people and their accompanying staff all year round.



The Company

Edsential is a Community Interest Company, created and partially owned by Cheshire West and Chester and Wirral Council. The company’s remit is to directly reinvest any profits into improving services and supporting progress in schools within the community, to improve outcomes for children and young people. Edsential supports schools with Catering, Cleaning, Creative and Performing Arts, Governors, Health and Wellbeing, Music, Residential and Curriculum Support.


Edsential is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. A Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required during your induction. Applicants for posts will be subject to stringent vetting and induction processes. The successful applicant will be subject to relevant checks and enhanced DBS.
