Case Progression Manager
Job Location: Gloucestershire County Council, Shire Hall, Gloucestershire.
Contract: Fixed Term, 12 months.
Salary: £48,226 – £51,356 per annum, based on experience.
Hours: 37 per week.

About the role
The Case Progression Manager oversees the timely movement of matters within the Public Law Outline (PLO) process, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and children's welfare remains central. The role involves:
- Working closely with social workers, team managers, legal services and multi‑agency partners to monitor case trajectories, identify delays and drive practice improvement.
- Facilitating effective communication and ensuring cases are legally sound and procedurally compliant.
- Tracking performance indicators such as assessment timescales, pre‑proceeding actions and court submissions; escalating concerns where necessary.
- Coaching and mentoring staff, promoting reflective practice and critical thinking.
- Preparing monthly performance reports for localities and quarterly legal reports for senior management.
- Collaborating with the Social Work Academy and legal department to develop targeted training packages for staff.
About You
Qualification and experience:
- Qualified social worker with substantial experience in statutory children’s services, safeguarding and court work.
- Strong analytical skills, deep understanding of child protection legislation and the PLO framework.
- Resilient, excellent communicator, committed to promoting the rights and welfare of children.
- Full driving licence and willingness to drive.
- DBS clearance.
- Completed ASYE year (if qualified after 2012).
- Social Work England registration.
