Job description

We are excited to offer an on-site Carpenter/Joiner position at HMP Usk, 47 Maryport St, Usk NP15 1XP.

Standard hours are 39 hours per week: shift pattern Mon–Thu 7:30 am – 4 pm, Friday 7:30 am – 3 pm. On-call and weekend work may be required as overtime.

What you will do
  • Ensure health and safety standards are achieved across the contract.
  • Carry out joinery work including repair of doors, windows, signposts, formwork, and other timber items.
  • Maintain joinery workshop, machines, statutory inspections, housekeeping, and cleanliness.
  • Organise and plan work with the supervisor, record and submit relevant works orders.
  • Measure and quote for works, order materials, and maintain building maintenance stock.
  • Support local and business zero‑carbon programmes in a strategic and lean manner.
  • Handle additional reasonable requests as determined by the line manager.
