Qualifications

  • Must have Level 2 or 3 in Joinery & Carpentry.
  • Experience with manual tools and ladder handling required.

Responsibilities

Job description

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week (shift pattern Mon‑Thursday 7.30am‑16.00pm, Friday 7.30am‑15.00pm). On call, weekend work if needed as overtime. At Amey, we support our justice client, His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons. By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly. The Carpenter & Joiner plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.

What You Will Do
  • Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
  • Carry out joinery work to include repairing doors, windows, signposts, formwork and other bespoke timber items.
  • Responsible for joinery workshop – maintenance of machines, statutory inspections, housekeeping and cleanliness.
  • Organise and plan your daily work with the supervisor, record and submit all details of work carried out on relevant works orders.
  • Measure and quote for works.
  • Order materials.
  • Maintain stock of building maintenance material.
  • Support both local and business zero‑carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner where appropriate.
  • Handle all other reasonable requests as determined by your line manager.
