Overview

We are excited to offer a permanent Carpenter & Joiner opportunity in HMP Manchester, 1 Southall Street, Manchester M60 9AH.

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week. Staff are required to work on a rota basis between Saturday to Thursday 08:00 - 17:00; Friday 08:00 - 16:00. There will be a need to work 1 in 4 weekends, on a rota basis with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.

By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

What you will do
  • Carry out joinery work including repairing doors, windows, signposts, formwork and other bespoke timber items.
  • Responsible for the joinery workshop: maintenance of machines, statutory inspections, housekeeping and cleanliness.
  • Measure and quote for works.
  • Order materials and maintain stock of Building Maintenance material.
What you will bring
  • Organisation in work, with attention to detail.
  • Manual tool handling.
  • Ladder use.
  • Level 3 in Joinery & Carpentry is required; however, NVQ level 2 may be considered.
  • Experience in Maintenance.
