Job description

Are you a seasoned manual labourer with a background in carpentry, looking for a fresh and exciting opportunity? Our client, a leading manufacturer of window furnishings and accessories, is on the lookout for a talented Skilled labourer to join their dynamic warehouse team of 20 in Leatherhead.

Experience:

An ideal candidate would have undertaken a previous role in woodworking or metalworking and would have worked in a factory environment.

Tasks

Role:

• To work in the woodworking department preparing curtain poles and pelmets for finishing.
• Tasks will include cutting, routing, sanding and precise measuring.
• Need to be able to work with precision and attention to detail as all products are bespoke.
• Manage own workload from printed work lists to ensure all orders are completed on time.
• Preparation of brass/metal for finishing including sandblasting and preparing
• Work in the finishing departments as required- assisting with metal polishing, antiquing and wood staining/hand finishing
• Opportunity to learn skills from other departments as develop in role.

Requirements

Skills:

• To excel in this role, you should possess:

Personality - A self motivated, pro-active worker able to show initiative with good interpersonal skills to work alongside a small team of colleagues.

Ability to work individually in a group setting - showing initiative and with good attention to detail.

Woodworking - cutting with industrial saws, precise measuring and angle cutting. Creating mitred joints and routing.

Good eye for quality control - the ability to pay particular attention to detail and ensure a great quality finish is achieved.

Time management - able to manage workload and prioritise according to deadlines.

Adaptable to undertake other responsibilities when required - including packing, potential metalwork and other manufacturing roles.
