Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Islington to assist with the appointment of a Caretaker, on a 3-month contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £17.28 - £23.01 per hour

Summary

The Caretaker is a frontline role within the Estate Services team, responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and well-managed communal areas across housing estates. The post holder will work closely with residents, colleagues, and management to deliver a high-quality caretaker service while ensuring health & safety, safeguarding, and customer care standards are met.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out caretaking and cleaning duties across estates in line with service standards and management direction
  • Maintain cleanliness of communal areas, shrub beds, lawns, and hard-standing areas
  • Undertake minor communal repairs in accordance with Health & Safety requirements
  • Report repairs, damage, emergencies, and incidents (fire, flood, burglary, etc.) to the relevant teams
  • Maintain estate lighting and monitor communal facilities
  • Hold and manage keys for communal areas, vacant dwellings, and estate facilities
Essentials
  • Some experience in caretaking, cleaning, or similar duties (paid or unpaid)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills and ability to deal with tenants and complaints
  • Physically able to carry out manual duties and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations
