Job summary

MertonVision is seeking a friendly Caretaker to manage access and security at the Guardian Centre in Colliers Wood, SW19. The role requires Saturday opening/closing duties and on-call coverage seven days a week, with occasional evening support and emergency response.

Applicants should live or drive within about 15 minutes of the centre; DBS clearance and references are required. You will assist hirers, supervise facilities, and ensure the building is locked and alarms set after events.

Qualifications

• Must be available Saturdays to open and close the Centre 9.00 and 20.00.
• On-call availability 7 days per week to respond to alarms.
• DBS clearance and references are required.
• Living or driving distance of 15 minutes to respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Open up the Centre before events and unlock/de-activate the alarm.
• Show clients facilities they may require (kitchen items, toilets, furniture).
• Ensure all doors are secured and the alarm is set after events.
• Check windows, lighting, and fire safety before leaving the Centre.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to be a Caretaker at MertonVision.

This post requires;

Must be available Saturdays to open and close the Centre 9.00 and 20.00.
To be available on call 7 days per week, if the Centre alarm is set off.
To be available to assist with weekday evenings 18.00-21.00 to open and close the Centre – this will be ad-hoc.
Living or driving distance of 15 mins, to be able to respond to alarm in an emergency.

We are looking for someone who:

Is willing to work within and co-operate with our vision and values.
Can take ownership of being punctual in opening up premises and welcoming hirers.
Can take responsibility for locking up the building.
The role requires DBS clearance and references are required

Job Description: Caretaker – Key Responsibilities

Support events that are taking place at the Guardian Centre to include;

Open up the Centre half an hour before event start time. Unlock and de-activate the alarm.

Show Clients all facilities they may require accessing, these include;
oven, cutlery/plates, toilets, furniture – tables and chairs.
Show clients all fire exits.
At the end of the event, check all windows have been closed, all lighting switched off, all fire doors closed, checks toilet taps and lighting switched off and lock front and back doors and set alarm.
