Job description

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, proactive, skilled, and reliable individual to take on the role of School Caretaker at Southfield Park Primary School. This position offers the opportunity to join a friendly, inclusive and aspirational team of teaching and support staff, and is ideal for someone with proven building and maintenance experience, ideally within a school environment.

The successful candidate will provide a security and caretaking service to the school and manage a high level of maintenance of the school buildings and grounds. The role involves working with external contractors for both emergency and routine matters, and facilitating estates management of the school as well as external events and lettings. The candidate will work closely with the Headteacher and Facilities Manager to ensure cost‑effective use of materials and equipment, carry out risk assessments, maintain maintenance schedules, and monitor the performance of outside contractors.

Essential attributes include the ability to organise workload and prioritise tasks, a flexible work approach, strong teamwork, adaptability, supportiveness to colleagues, and clear communication both verbally and in writing.

Salary: Pay Scale 5 £28,785 - £30,837 per annum, dependant on experience.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 7-9 am and 1‑6:30 pm.
