About the role

We are looking for a caring, patient and fun individual to support and look after our bright and cheerful 9-year-old son, who is autistic. He has a fantastic sense of humour, a big imagination, and loves spending time with people who enjoy having fun and understanding his unique personality. This role involves engaging him in his favourite activities, supporting his routine, and providing a calm, positive environment that encourages his independence and confidence.

  • 8 hours per week term time
  • 10 hours per week school holidays
  • £12.75 per hour
Duties
  • Build a warm, trusting relationship through play and positive communication.
  • Supervise and engage in activities such as Lego building, playing Xbox/iPad games and swimming.
  • Encourage social skills, creativity and independence in a patient and supportive way.
  • Ensure his safety and wellbeing both at home and during outings.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about his day and observations.
Essential Skills
  • You must be friendly, caring, empathetic, enthusiastic with a good sense of humour and a positive outlook.
  • Experience of working with children (experience with autism preferred).
  • Good communication skills and the ability to be punctual and reliable.
  • Reliable and responsible with good communication skills.
  • Full driving licence and able to swim.

An enhanced DBS check will be required before employment commences; this cost will be met by the employer.
