Job description

Job title: Personal Assistant
Location: North Cornelly, Bridgend
Hours of work: 5/6 hours per week
Rate of pay: £13.50

Introduction:

A committed, caring and flexible Personal Assistant is required to support a gentleman, who uses a wheelchair. Support with domestic duties and some Personal Care. I need assistance with day to day things like showering, basic hygiene and getting dressed. As well as supporting with prepping meals, cooking, social activities and shopping.
Hours are to be worked flexibly as required and agreed in advance, most likely spread over the week.

This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable me to manage my support with the assistance of a PA, enabling me to live an independent lifestyle. Must have own transport and a full and clean driving licence.

Main Duties:

• Personal care, washing, dressing and transferring in and out of the wheelchair
• Support with cooking, preparing meals
• Support out in the community with shopping and activities
• Become a friend and engage in conversations.
• Local to the area would be beneficial

Person Specification:

• Proactive individual with local knowledge.
• A good sense of humour.
• Caring, honest, responsible and patient.
• Flexibility around hours of work and main duties of the job.
• Reliable with good time keeping.
• Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy.
• An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship.
• Good communication and inter-personal skills.

A full driving license and use of a car is required. You must have business use on your insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
