Careers Leader and Advisor

Salary: 34 434–41 771 per annum pro rata (Grade 7 or 8 dependent on qualifications and experience)

Actual salary: 18 392–22 311 per annum

Working hours: 22.5 hours per week during term time only plus 5 INSET days and an additional 4 days during the school holidays.

The role

Hayesfield Girls School is seeking to appoint a Careers Leader and Advisor to lead and manage Careers and Employability across the school.

The key responsibilities are
  • Strategic Leadership – fully lead and manage the school’s Careers and Employability strategy ensuring the school meets all eight Gatsby Benchmarks.
  • Impartial Guidance – provide and oversee the delivery of impartial high‑quality Careers advice including individual interviews and action planning for students.
  • Networking & Events – build and maintain strong links with employability contacts, businesses and FE/HE providers; lead key annual events such as Employability Fairs and Mock Interviews.
  • Data & Compliance – manage Careers funding, monitor destinations data (NEET risk) and report directly to the Senior Leadership Team and Governors.
  • Curriculum Development – review and update the PSHCE Careers programme across Years 7–13.
Essential requirements
  • Qualification – educated to degree level in a relevant subject; willingness to obtain the Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development (if not already held).
  • Skills – exceptional communication and presentation skills (to staff, students and parents).
Desirable requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Careers Advisor in a secondary school setting.
  • Possession of the Level 6 qualification in CEIAG registered with the CDI.
