A prominent educational institution in Rugby is seeking a trained careers adviser to support student recruitment and career development. This role involves providing comprehensive careers advice and organizing workshops, with an emphasis on helping students make informed choices about their future. The ideal candidate will have qualifications in careers advice and guidance, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. You will be required to travel between campuses and local schools, ensuring access to quality guidance for all students throughout their education.
Salary Range: £25,878 pro rata, per annum for candidates working towards L6 (Support Scale 5, Fixed Point 17) - £15,055.51 based on 24 hours per week, Term Time Only: 40 weeks.
£28,425 pro rata, per annum for candidates qualified to L6 (Support Scale 6, Fixed Point 20) - £16,537.32 based on 24 hours per week, Term Time Only: 40 weeks.
Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College). This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.
The WCG Careers Team works across all colleges to ensure WCG students are well informed about career opportunities and equipped with the skills to achieve their career goals. The team provides a range of services which support student recruitment, retention, achievement and progression. The team holds the matrix quality standard for impartial information, advice and guidance and was awarded the Quality in Careers Standard in 2022.
This role provides an opportunity for an already trained careers adviser to develop their skills and work in a fast moving and progressive Further Education College. The role could also provide an opportunity for someone who is new to careers advice and guidance to be trained by a sector leading Careers Team and be fully supported to become qualified after completing the probation period. The successful candidate will be expected to have Careers Advice and Guidance qualifications or if not be prepared to work towards them. Full training and support will be given.
The successful candidate will be based at WCG’s Rugby Campus but will also require travel to other campus and to any local premises where WCG provide services including local schools.
All members of the careers team are required to be back in work for GCSE results and enrolments that generally take place from around the beginning of the last week of August.
The post reports to the Head of Careers and Information.
