Job summary

Priory Community School Academy is seeking a Careers Advisor to deliver impartial career guidance and lead work experience programmes across all year groups. You will work directly with the Assistant Headteacher to connect classroom learning with real-world opportunities for students.

You will build relationships with local businesses and providers, coordinate KS4 and Post-16 placements, and organise career events while tracking student destinations to inform leadership decisions.

Qualifications

• A Level 6 Qualification in Career Guidance (or plan to achieve).
• Good English and Maths.
• Experience delivering impartial career guidance to young people.
• Ability to network with external business and education providers.
• Ability to coordinate placements and manage complex schedules.

Responsibilities

• Provide impartial career guidance to students and families during key transition stages.
• Build relationships with local businesses, universities and training providers.
• Oversee management of KS4 and Post-16 work placements ensuring safe, suitable environments.
• Organise career fairs, talks and workshops and communicate updates to students and parents.
• Track destinations and maintain records to support Gatsby Benchmarks and school leadership.

About the role

You will play a crucial role in shaping student futures by delivering high-quality, impartial career guidance and leading our work experience programmes. Working directly with the Assistant Headteacher, you will connect classroom learning with real-world opportunities to inspire students across all year groups.

Key responsibilities

• Provide impartial advice to help students and families make informed choices during key transition stages, including option selections and post-16 decisions.
• Proactively build relationships with local businesses, universities and post-16 training providers to secure rich opportunities for students.
• Oversee the end-to-end management of Key Stage 4 and Post-16 work placements, ensuring placement environments are safe, suitable and well-monitored.
• Organise career fairs, employer talks and workshops, keeping students, parents and staff informed via digital updates, bulletins and assemblies.
• Track student destinations and maintain accurate records to support national standards (such as Gatsby Benchmarks) and inform leadership decisions.

About you

• A Level 6 Qualification in Career Guidance (or a clear commitment to work towards achieving it), alongside a solid standard of English and Maths.
• A proven track record in delivering impartial career guidance and working with young people in an educational or youth setting.
• The ability to network and build collaborative, lasting partnerships with external businesses, educational providers and community stakeholders.
• The ability to coordinate placements, manage complex schedules and handle data to monitor progress and give clear insights.
• Confidence in presenting to groups of all sizes, including leading school assemblies and student workshops.
