Job summary

The Level 6 Careers Adviser role at a leading FE college in West London is seeking an experienced professional to deliver impartial CIAG to learners, helping them plan progression into higher education, apprenticeships, employment and further training.

You will work with curriculum teams to support learner progression, deliver workshops and group sessions, maintain records, and contribute to Gatsby Benchmark activity within an established careers team.

Qualifications

  • Level 6 qualification in CIAG or equivalent.
  • Experience providing professional careers guidance to young people.
  • Experience working in an FE college, school or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of education, employment, apprenticeship and university pathways.
  • Understanding of the Gatsby Benchmarks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide impartial, learner-focused advice.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Experience supporting SEND or disadvantaged learners would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide impartial 1-to-1 careers guidance to learners.

  • Provide guidance around applications, CVs, interviews and employability.
  • Develop individual careers and progression action plans.
  • Provide accurate labour market information.
  • Maintain records of interventions and learner outcomes.
  • Support learners with additional needs and barriers to progression.
  • Contribute to the careers strategy and Gatsby Benchmark activity.
  • Build relationships with curriculum teams, employers and external organisations.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Level 6 Careers Adviser to support learners within a leading Further Education college in West London.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Careers Adviser looking for a long-term assignment within an established FE environment, supporting students with their education, employment and progression decisions.

The Role

You will provide high-quality, impartial Careers Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG) to learners, helping them make informed decisions about their next steps into higher education, apprenticeships, employment and further training.

You will work closely with curriculum teams and college staff to support learner progression and contribute to the delivery of an effective careers programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide impartial 1-to-1 careers guidance to learners
  • Deliver careers education, workshops and group sessions
  • Support students with progression into university, apprenticeships, employment and further education
  • Provide guidance around applications, CVs, interviews and employability
  • Develop individual careers and progression action plans
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date labour market information
  • Support learners with applications and progression decisions
  • Contribute to the college's careers strategy and Gatsby Benchmark activity
  • Build relationships with curriculum teams, employers and external organisations
  • Maintain accurate records of careers interventions and learner outcomes
  • Support learners with additional needs and barriers to progression
Requirements
  • Level 6 qualification in Careers Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG) or equivalent
  • Experience providing professional careers guidance to young people
  • Experience working within an FE college, school or similar education environment
  • Strong knowledge of education, employment, apprenticeship and university pathways
  • Understanding of the Gatsby Benchmarks

Safeguarding

This role involves working with young people and is therefore subject to the required safeguarding and pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check where applicable.
