About the Department

The Careers and Employability Service plays a crucial role in helping students succeed in a competitive graduate job market. We support students and graduates with the development of employability skills, advice on career options, applying for jobs and work experience, meeting employers and finding graduate job opportunities.

About these roles

We have 2x Careers Adviser positions. In these roles you will develop a range of faculty focussed activities to make a significant impact on the employment prospects of our graduates. You will collaborate with academic departments to meet the employability needs of their students through a programme of curriculum delivery, extracurricular activities and 1:1 guidance. You will enhance the career development of students at all stages of study and take a data informed approach to deliver impactful careers provision.

You will develop appropriate e-learning resources to support career development learning such as online tutorials and sessions, webinars, short films etc. to help engage and meet the needs of a large and diverse student body.

You will promote the employment of students and graduates to employers and help identify appropriate opportunities such as work experience, graduate entry roles and projects to support the career development and progression of our students. You will coordinate a range of employer-focussed events.

You will be based in one of our four faculties and lead on our work with several academic departments, as well as working across the wider Careers and Employability team.

About You

You will be proactive and enthusiastic with the ability to plan and deliver multifaceted high quality and impactful services. These are roles requiring excellent organisational skills.

You will have good research and data manipulation skills with the ability to assimilate, interpret, and determine effective recommendations that will have a substantive impact on key objectives.

You will have a good understanding of strategies and techniques, including e-learning resource creation, to support skills development within a curriculum setting. You will have knowledge and experience of meeting the needs of learners from a diverse range of backgrounds to design and deliver tailored employability development activities.

You will be an effective and constructive team player who is able to work collaboratively with other colleagues and multiple stakeholders. You will have the communication and influencing skills essential in building and managing positive working relationships.
