Job summary

A leading educational institution in Scotland is looking for a qualified Careers Adviser to provide part-time support (21 hours per week) to students, helping them realize their career goals through effective guidance, workshops, and presentations. Candidates should exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be flexible in managing tasks, and have an empathetic approach. This role includes delivering skills-based career programs and will require a PVG check prior to commencement.

Careers Adviser

Part time (21 hours per week over 52 weeks or 27.3 hours over 40 weeks)
Grade 6 (£32,079.92 - £37,694.44) pro rata

The Careers Service supports and inspires our students to realise their career goals by developing their career management skills, preparing them for the world of work. The Service offers a range of employability related activities, including work placements and skills‑based careers programmes such as the Abertay Skills Award, Career Mentoring Scheme, and Graduate Success Award.

The University now seeks to appoint a qualified Careers Adviser to work 21 hours per week over 52 weeks or 27.3 hours per week across 40 weeks of the academic year.

Responsibilities
  • Provide careers information, advice, and guidance to students, including one‑to‑one guidance interviews
  • Deliver group work and presentations
  • Deliver skills‑based programmes such as the Career Mentoring Scheme and Graduate Success Award
Qualifications & Skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and build rapport with a range of people
  • Organised, flexible, and able to manage a busy caseload
  • Capable of working on own initiative as well as being a team player
  • Empathetic and non‑judgemental approach

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG check before commencing work.
