Job Purpose

Job Hours
- Flexible, depending on the needs of the business

Job Responsibilities
The specific requirements of each assignment will vary and these will be discussed with you before you accept the assignment. As a carer you must be sensitive and responsive to the race, culture, religion, age, disability, gender and sexuality of the client who is receiving care and their representatives. You will provide care according to the client's specific diagnosis and needs.
General
- Provide personal care and support to Clients with specific needs.
- Understand the service that is provided to its Clients.
- Follow and carry out the tasks provided in the Clients care plans.
- Bring forth details that you have discovered about your Clients so that we can update care plans.
- Provide general support to the service user as part of a caring team.
Personal Care
- Assist clients with getting up/going to bed.
- Assist Clients with getting dressed and undressed.
- Assist Clients to maintain personal hygiene (washing/bathing/showering).
- Assisting with mouth care.
- Using bath aids.
- Managing incontinence.
- Emptying commodes.
- Skin and hair care.
- Assist Clients with administering medication (if needed).
- Pressure area care.
- Catheter care.
- Emptying of colostomy bag.
Nutritional Care
- Provide Clients with food and drinks (be sure to keep in mind the Clients specific tastes, nutritional needs, and cultural requirements).
Domestic Support
- Carry out domestic duties (all details of domestic duties will be provided in the Clients care plan).
- Making/changing bedding.
- Laundry/ironing.
- Washing up dishes.
- Cleaning the toilet/bathroom.
- Shopping for groceries.
Social Care
- Assisting with Maintaining Social Contact.
- Assisting in Making Appointments.
- Assisting with Attending Clubs / Day Care Centres.
Knowledge and Expertise
Desirable
- General care experience.
- Ideally some experience in caring for clients in their own home.
- Ideally NVQ Care Level 2 or 3.
- Training relevant to the post.
Essential
- Caring personality.
- Own car.
- Ability to travel to clients.
- An enhanced DBS disclosure and Barring Service.
- A full UK driver's license.
Additional Responsibilities (Field Supervisor Duties)
To be carried out where applicable, in addition to standard Care Assistant duties.
Client & Staff Support
- Conduct spot checks, competency assessments and supervision of care staff in the field.
- Provide on-the-job coaching, mentoring and support to new and existing Care Assistants.
- Support Care Coordinators by providing feedback on staff performance and client needs.
- Introduce new Care Assistants to clients and ensure handovers are completed safely.
Quality Assurance
- Monitor the quality of care delivered to ensure it meets company standards and CQC requirements.
- Report any safeguarding concerns, incidents or changes in a client's condition promptly.
- Ensure care plans are followed accurately and communicate any required updates to the office team.
- Check MAR charts, daily notes and other documentation for accuracy and compliance.
Client Liaison
- Conduct welfare checks and client reviews when required.
- Respond to client queries, concerns or feedback in a professional and timely manner.
- Support client continuity and satisfaction by addressing issues early.
Operational Support
- Support emergency cover in the field when required.
- Assist with gathering information for audits, service reviews and compliance monitoring.
- Help maintain strong communication between office staff, field staff and clients.
