Job Purpose

As a Care Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care services to residents, overseeing and supporting the care team to maintain the highest standards of care. You will be responsible for supervising day-to-day care operations, ensuring that all care plans are followed, and offering guidance and support to care assistants. You will be instrumental in maintaining a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for both residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support a team of Care Assistants to ensure the highest standard of care is provided to residents.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and review of care plans for residents, ensuring they are person-centred and up-to-date.
  • Ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to, and that a safe and comfortable environment is maintained.
  • Provide support and guidance to care staff, ensuring appropriate training and development is provided to maintain high standards of care.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, in line with care plans and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents in a calm and effective manner, providing first aid if necessary.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating residents' well‑being, reporting any changes in their condition to senior staff and families where required.
  • Ensure that care records are accurate, up‑to‑date, and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Foster a positive team atmosphere and work collaboratively with other team members, management, and external agencies.
  • Promote and maintain residents' dignity, independence, and choice at all times.
  • Lead by example and support the training of new staff, ensuring all team members understand and implement policies and procedures.
Key Requirements
  • Proven experience in a care role, preferably in a supervisory or leadership capacity within a care home environment.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • Medication administration experience - essential
  • A good understanding of care planning, safeguarding, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and support a team.
  • A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to care, with a focus on enhancing residents' well‑being.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure.
  • A willingness to participate in continuous professional development (CPD) and training.
