A community service organization based in Ormskirk is seeking a dedicated Direct Payments Caseworker to join their Adult Services team. We’re looking for a dedicated and organised Direct Payments Caseworker to join our Adult Services team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference by supporting individuals who choose to manage their care through Direct Payments.

Job Purpose

To support adults and children in accessing care via Direct Payments, helping them make informed choices, manage their finances, and navigate employment responsibilities related to their care arrangements.

Key Details

  • Location: Bickerstaffe House
  • Contract: Temporary (6 months)
  • Hours: Full-time, 37 hours/week
  • Pay: £16.62 per hour

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Work directly with service users, families, and professionals to assess suitability for Direct Payments.
  • Conduct home visits to provide advice and support on care arrangements and employment matters.
  • Monitor and audit financial records to ensure spending aligns with care budgets.
  • Maintain accurate case records using Microsoft Excel and internal IT systems.
  • Liaise with social care teams and external agencies to coordinate support.
  • Promote the Direct Payments scheme at meetings and public events.
  • Provide guidance on statutory obligations, record keeping, and employment law.

What You’ll Need

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
  • IT qualification (ECDL/CLAIT or equivalent).
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Knowledge of financial administration and employment law.
  • Understanding of Direct Payments and relevant social care legislation.
