Job summary

Stockmoor Lodge in Bridgwater is seeking a kitchen assistant to support meal preparation and maintain high hygiene standards. You will work within the Somerset Care Group team, contributing to a warm, person-centred dining experience for residents.

You will receive full induction, training in health and social care, and opportunities for funded qualifications. We offer enhanced pay for night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays, plus DBS and uniform provision.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within a kitchen setting.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and work as part of a team.
• Clear communication to understand Service Users and convey information.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under supervision.
• Clean kitchen equipment, floors, surfaces and storage areas as directed by the Manager or Cook.
• Carry out kitchen and dining room activities such as laying tables and clearing away.
• Take care of equipment and use cleaning chemicals in line with Health & Safety guidelines.
• Use hygienic waste disposal systems and follow training with powered equipment including a dishwasher.
• Maintain a professional and hygienic appearance.
