Job Overview

We are looking for a Temporary Deputy Manager to cover maternity leave and to work at our residential care home based in Sharrow, S11 8AY.

Hours: 38.5 hours per week

Shift Pattern: 7:00am to 7:00pm or 7:00pm to 7:00am, to work 3 x shifts one week and 4 x shifts the next week, to include weekends (usually alternate) and bank holiday work

Pay: £16.39 per hour

All new team members are required to attend an induction at our training room in S13 prior to starting work in the care home. These are run every three weeks, starting on a Monday between 9:30am and 3:30pm.

The Job Role
  • To be an effective member of the management team
  • To be responsible for staff development, supervision and appraisals
  • To lead a team by actively managing, coaching and ensuring their skills continually improve to increase the level of service on offer
  • To plan and monitor the team’s performance and skills of each and ensure they have the appropriate skills to do the job
  • To liaise with appropriate professionals to ensure that the residents receive the necessary support to achieve the goals identified in their care plans
  • To lead by example and co‑ordinate service provision whilst working alongside staff
  • To represent the home at charity staff/management meetings as required including those under the disciplinary, disputes and grievance procedures
  • To ensure, monitor and record security and safety of the home and the wellbeing of the residents
  • To be aware of the types of services that can be made available to all Residents and participate in the creation of these services within the home
  • To promote the wellbeing of all Residents, emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually and nutritionally to enhance their quality of life when using our services through active management of the team
  • To cover on call based on the defined roster system
  • To actively develop and manage strong relationships over the phone and in person with key people in the care sector
  • To promote and uphold Sheffcare’s values
  • To implement, uphold and support compliance with safe working practices in line with our regulations and our policies and procedures
  • To attend regular training where required
  • To support positive relationships with our residents, their family, colleagues and professionals
